Philippe Karrer Studio has been commissioned to design a book and an app that allows the reader to learn about the long history of alternative places in Basel/Switzerland. “Alte Stadtgärtnerei, Kaserne, Werkraum Schlotterbeck, Hafenareal” are some of the temporary and alternative spots that have shaped the cultural, social and political life of Basel for decades.

This book is a collection of audiovisual documents from 1968 to 2018. In addition to the film documents and in-depth essays, the publication includes interviews with former and current people involved.
