Robe de Meuron

The “robe de chambre de Meuron” replica project sheds light on the journey of the robe of Charles-Daniel de Meuron from India to its final destination at the Musée d’art et d’histoire of Neuchâtel at the end of the 18th century. It also engages with – and documents – some of the rich artisanal traditions of block printing in India.

Philippe Karrer Studio was commissioned to design the website that aims to encourage further discussion around issues such as: cultural diversity and exchanges; artisanal textile traditions and new technologies; preservation of tangible and intangible heritage; conservation and preservation of historical textiles; sustainability of contemporary textile industry.
